Student Guidelines

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will never depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

DISCIPLINE

The administration is highly concern about teaching internal and external discipline.

So expectations of students are high and are clearly stated at the time of admissions and in the Student Handbook.

All the rules that are implemented at Lima Aier Higher Secondary School are intended to be guidelines for our children to give them a secure environment in which they work, study, play, and socialize.

Students are expected to respond positively: to accept the consequences wholeheartedly,

and to change their behavior.

The conduct system is not designed to penalize every minor infraction – it is, however, designed to be responsive to minor infractions that accumulate over time. The aim of this system is to deter, educate, and encourage positive personal growth.

Therefore all the children are expected to follow the school guidelines conducive to a healthy learning atmosphere at LAHSS.

LANGUAGE OF COMMUNICATION

English is the common medium of communication. In order to develop maximum fluency in the language, its use is mandatory at all times inside the school premises, unless the class is designated for learning another language.

PUNCTUALITY

The school gate is closed at 7:55 sharp, so all the children are expected to be on time.

In case of a delay for any reason, the school should be informed.

ABSENTEES

We place a high premium on students’ attendance because we want to instill in our children the habit of regularity and punctuality to avoid the loss incurred due to absenteeism.

LEAVE OF ABSENT:

  • If the student is absent, the parent should record the reason for absence duly signed on the student’s school dairy. The student should bring this record to school on the day he/she comes to school.
  • For absent without reason, a fine of Rs 5 per day for classes A-8 and Rs 50 for classes 9-12 will be charged.
  • A medical certificate must be submitted if a student is absent for more than three days.
  • If any students fail to come on the reopening day after vacation:

(a) Classes A-9 late fine of Rs.50/-(Fifty) will be charged on the first day and Rs.10 per day till he/she comes to school.

(b) Classes X-XII Late fine of Rs.100 will be charged on the first day and Rs.10 per day till he/she comes to school.

The late fine should be paid on the day he/she comes to school.

OFFENCE

We believe that the use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, smoking is harmful to the development and well-being of students and is likely to undermine their health, safety, independence, and opportunities.

Drug use also damages the whole school community, by placing other students in a position where they may be exposed to temptation and to the risk of other influences.

This policy is, therefore, meant to act as a very powerful deterrent

A breach of this policy will be regarded as a severe breach of discipline and are liable for suspension/ dismissal/ expulsion.

Anti-Bullying Policy

  • Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • All individuals, regardless of age, culture, challenges, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief/sexual identity, have the right to be protected from any form of abuse.
  • No one should be subject to abuse or bullying from adults employed by the school or from students.
  • The school views the welfare of each individual as paramount.
  • LAHSS is committed to providing a safe, nurturing community within which everyone can live, study, learn, work, and mature.

Therefore, bullying of any kind is unacceptable and zero tolerance at our school.

Suspension

This aim of suspending students is to give them time to reflect away from school and serve as a clear warning message that their behavior is unacceptable and cannot continue.

The suspension also plays a role in removing students from a high-pressure situation in which they are already making poor choices and thus protects them from making any further poor choices.

Details will be recorded in the student’s record and will be included in official references.

A student returning to school after suspension will automatically be placed on conduct or full probation, depending on the reason for the suspension—students who are suspended twice within a year risk not being re-admitted.

Expulsion:

Expulsion results in the immediate removal of the student from the school.

  • Respect others regardless of social position, race, religion, gender, or age.
