A Reminiscence of my School — By Sashi Walling

A note from the first student of Lima Aier Hr. Sec. School

I started my journey as a learner and a student of Lima Memorial School, now known as ‘Lima Aier Hr. Sec. School’. I joined the school in 1991. At that time, I did not know how to read and write but my teachers took me by the hand and taught me how to write and helped me to read. My first teacher, Miss Shalet, I know for sure, had a hard time teaching me. It’s like a dream that more than two decades have passed, but I still have the memories of my school days fresh in my mind. With tears in my eyes, I look back, and say to myself “You
are who you are today, because of the school, where you have studied!”

I remember myself as a tiny little boy who always stood first in the line during assembly, the first bencher in the class. I remember the days when a samosa was just 1(one) rupee in my school canteen, for which we rushed to get one during recess. Slowly, as i grew up, with the
passage of time, my school bag, my assignments and my study loads were becoming heavier. As I was an average student, I found it very hard to comprehend but my teachers never gave up on me. I still remember my teachers who gave their best to mould me. Miss Veronica, Miss Padma, Madam Santhamma, Sir James, Sir Anand, Sir Sahu, Sir Ajit, Miss Hoinu, Miss Asang, Miss Watila, Sir Varghese and last but not the least, Sir Tripathy.

I still remember the school assembly where we used to stand for more than half an hour every morning to worship GOD. I remember our Madam Imtila telling Bible stories and challenging us through the stories and giving us valuable lessons every morning (Stories of David, Daniel, Joseph, Samuel and many more). The school Retreat Program had really moulded my spiritual life I am in God’s Ministry today as an associate pastor, and when I look back at my past, it was my school which laid the foundation of who I am today. Physically, I was very small, so I never had the opportunity to win a medal or a cup in my
school sports week. Every year I went home empty handed on children’s day, that was my life as an athlete. It was only in the year 2002 when I finally got a medal, that too, for the Best Student of the year. I felt very happy and proud. But the best feelings came when I saw my teachers with smiles on their faces feeling proud for me, for the first time. All my friends were proud of me, especially my best friend, Amit cheering for me, a moment which I can never forget in my life.

Such was my life in Lima Aier Hr. Sec. School! I thank God for the opportunity. He had blessed me to study in Lima Aier Hr. Sec. School, to be part of this big family. During my worst moments, my school, my teachers, my mentor and my friends and classmates took the best out of me, for which I am and will always be grateful.

Thank you, Lima Aier. Hr. Sec. School. I am proud and blessed to be part of this big family. Special thanks to my Sir, Dr. Maongwati Aier and Madam Imtila. May God bless you both with long life.

Long live Lima Aier Hr. Sec. School!
